Emily        : What's gotten into you?

Co-worker : Sorry, I've just been in a bad mood lately.

* got into ~ ~에 들어갔다(여기서는 이상한 기운이 당신의 정신을 파고 들었나 보다고 비아냥거리는 표현에서 쓰임)

* be in a bad mood : 기분이 좋지 않은 상태에 있는

 

동료 : 에밀리, 우리 회사의 새로 온 리셉셔니스트가 화장을 너무 진하게 하는 것 같지?

에밀리 : 난 동료들에 대해 입방아를 찧고 싶진 않은데.

동료 : 너는 남보다 본인이 잘났다고 생각하는 그런 사람이구나, 그렇지?

에밀리 : 너 왜 그래?

동료 : 미안, 최근 내가 기분이 좀 안 좋아서.

 

A : Have you had spoken to the new kid yet?

B : No, I've never even seen him open his mouth.

A : I don't think he would be the kind of person who'll talk to someone he doesn't know.

B : I think you should take the initiative and introduce yourself.

* take the initiative : 주도권을 잡다.

 

A : 그 새로 온 아이와 애기 해 봤어?

B : 아니, 그 아이 입 여는 것도 못 봤다.

A : 본인이 잘 모르는 사람과 말하는 그런 사람이 아닌 것 같아.

B : 난 네가 먼저 말을 걸어서 네 소개를 해야 할 것 같아.
